Storywork Coaching Guidelines

How We’ll Work Together

This page outlines what you can expect from Storywork coaching and what I ask of you in return. Clarity creates safety, and safety creates room for honest work.

What Coaching Is

Storywork coaching is a collaborative, client-led process. Together, we slow down and pay attention to the experiences, patterns, and adaptations that have shaped your life—especially those formed in response to harm, loss, or unmet care.

In our work, you choose the focus. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect what I notice. The goal is increased awareness, agency, and movement—not quick fixes or advice-giving.

What Coaching Is Not

Coaching is not therapy.

It does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions and is not a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, medical care, or other professional services. If at any point it becomes clear that additional or different support would be helpful, I may encourage you to seek care from an appropriate professional.

Your Role & Responsibility

You are responsible for your own choices, pace, and well-being throughout this process.

Coaching may surface discomfort, emotion, or tension as part of growth. You are always free to pause, ask questions, or stop the work at any time. Honest feedback is welcome and encouraged.

Confidentiality

What you share in coaching is held in confidence, except where disclosure is required by law.

From time to time, themes from sessions may be discussed anonymously with other coaching professionals for consultation or training purposes. No identifying details are ever shared.

Sessions & Logistics
  • Sessions are approximately 50 minutes

  • Sessions may take place via Zoom or another agreed-upon format

  • Payment is due at or immediately following each session unless otherwise arranged

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance

  • Missed sessions without notice are not refunded

Between Sessions

You are welcome to reach out between sessions with brief questions, reflections, or updates. I will do my best to respond within 48 hours. These brief contacts are not billed.

Communication & Repair

If something doesn’t feel right, I ask that you tell me. Misunderstandings happen, especially in written or virtual communication. Naming concerns early helps preserve trust and clarity.

Acknowledgment

By scheduling a session and completing the intake form, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to these guidelines.
